SCHULTZ
Rod is a South Australian actor and singer specialising in comic and character roles across opera and musical theatre. Originally from a small farming community on the Eyre Peninsula, he has established himself as a versatile performing artist.
His engagements with State Opera South Australia include Frosch (Die Fledermaus), Sante (Il Segreto di Susanna) and Baron / Bear-Keeper / Don Issachar / Father Bernardo / Ragotski in Candide (State Opera South Australia / State Theatre Company South Australia). He also co-wrote and co-presented Here’s a How-de-do for the company’s ‘G&S Fest’.
Rod has toured extensively with Co-Opera, as Frank (Die Fledermaus), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Fiorello (The Barber of Seville), Monostatos / First Armed Man (The Magic Flute), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan tutte), Goro (Madama Butterfly), and Ko-Ko (The Mikado).
Other stage credits include First Sailor (Dido and Aeneas, Mopoke Theatre Productions), Jeff ([title of show], Irregular Productions), and Dr Madden/Dr Fine (Next to Normal, Six Foot Something Productions & The Factory). National tours include The Fairies and You Are a Doughnut (That Science Gang).
