Opera takes hundreds of people to put on a stage, and only some of them sing. State Opera South Australia sometimes offers work experience opportunities for secondary and tertiary students, giving you the chance to spend time alongside the people who help make a season happen.
When opportunities are available, placements can provide an insight into the many different areas and roles that contribute to the work of an opera company. Depending on what is happening at the time, your interests and what opportunities are available, your experience might involve anything from office-based work and marketing to production, logistics or other areas behind the scenes.
Every placement is different, and we tailor the experience to the student and the needs of the company at the time. Tell us what you are interested in, and we will explore what might be possible.

- Secondary students completing school work experience.
- Tertiary students undertaking a placement as part of their studies.
No performance experience is needed. What matters is curiosity about how the arts work, on and off the stage.
